Walker is a 6 year old hound who is eager to offer his services to a lucky forever family. What are his services, you may ask? Walker is here to encourage the proper work/nap balance which is very important these days! Do you need someone to encourage you to go back to bed after breakfast? To take a mid-morning nap followed by an early afternoon nap? What about a pre-dinner nap? Maybe a post-dinner nap and/or a pre-bed nap? What about binge-watching your favorite comfort show? Walker has you covered and models fantastic self-care behavior. If you have to do silly things like "work" and are lucky enough to work from home Walker will steadfastly remain snuggled by your side while you earn his snack money.
Walker's name is a bit of false advertisement. He's not here for marathon walks; he prefers a more leisurely life. If there were a hall of fame for couch (and bed) potatoes he would be a unanimous first ballot selection. When he is not napping Walker enjoys other fine things that life has to offer like sunbathing outside, taking "Netflix and chill" literally, and checking out whether there might be anything on the counters that he could swipe. He's a furry slug with a side of nosy hound antics. It's hard to say whether nap time or meal time is his favorite time but fortunately for him he doesn't have to choose. He's never met a snack he doesn't like and takes treats very gently even when he's excited. He gets zoomies and shows off his hound awoooos when it's mealtime.
Some people consider 6 years old to be "too old" when they're looking adopt a dog but Walker has plenty of life left and is a fantastic companion. He is a middle-aged gentleman who is free of puppy nonsense. Could a puppy hold its bladder while you're at work during the day? Walker can. Does a puppy let you sleep in? Walker does. With a 6 year old dog you know more about their personality and needs and a 6 year old dog is extra appreciative of having a stable, loving home.
Walker tried living with cats but after a while he decided that they were lots of fun to chase so he is looking for a feline-free forever home. He gets along great with dogs of all sizes and although he doesn't wrestle around with his foster siblings he loves running around and hanging out with them.
He is crate trained and housebroken in his current foster home. He is heartworm negative, up to date on his vaccines and monthly preventatives and even had a dental cleaning
in April. He is still building confidence on leash (walks involve lots of stopping and standing before keeping it moving) and would love to go to a home with a fenced yard for him to enjoy. Walker is an A+ snuggle buddy and a joy to foster. We don't know anything about his previous life but he has clearly embraced life as a couch hound and can't wait to find his forever home. If you're looking for a low key best friend then Walker may be just the dog for you.
