Dixie is a big hunk of love looking for her furever family. She is about 2 years old, weighs approximately 58 lbs and is a beautiful brindle color. For her size, she is gentle and does not overpower. She has been around kids 1 and 7 and was good with them. Dixie is a good mix of playful and couch potato. She likes her toys and enjoys being outside. But she loves laying next to you and getting belly rubs best. She takes treats gently and will sit when asked. She does the cutest tippy taps and vocal grumbles when she needs to go outside or is ready to be fed. She’s not shy about asking.
Dixie will fit into any type of home, she is people friendly and dog friendly. She was cat tested in Georgia and seemed okay with the cats, but would need supervision if you have cats to ensure a successful integration.
Dixie has done well with housetraining and a consistent schedule to go outside. She is crate trained and does well with no accidents overnight or while foster mom is at work. Due to weather, she has only gone on a leash walk once but was not overly pully and listened to commands to stop or wait.
Dixie was treated for heartworms and is on restricted activity – no long runs or walks – for about 2 more weeks – beginning of February. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations and on monthly heartworm and flea and tick preventatives.
