Meet Madge — a beautiful little senior soul with a story that could break your heart, but a spirit that will put it right back together again. Veterinarian believes Madge’s mouth may have been held closed with a rubber band for a long period of time sometime in her past. Because of this horrific neglect, her teeth severely decayed, and the infection eventually affected her jaw, leaving her with a facial deformity. She recently underwent a full dental procedure and now has just one tiny tooth left — but if you think that slows this girl down, Madge would politely disagree.
She happily eats her soft food, enjoys her treats very much, and has absolutely mastered the art of reminding you exactly when breakfast and dinner should be served. Her little internal clock is incredibly accurate, and she is not shy about letting you know it’s mealtime.
The most amazing thing about Madge is that she does not live in the sadness of her past. She is happy. Truly happy. She does not appear to be in discomfort, and she spends her days soaking up every bit of love and comfort she can find. Her tail wags, her eyes light up when she sees her people, and her goofy little spunky personality shines brighter than anything that ever happened to her.
Madge is the definition of a velcro dog. If you move, she moves. If you sit, she sits beside you. If you’re heading to another room, expect your tiny shadow to be right behind you. More than anything, she just wants to be near her people and included in everyday life. Whether it’s curling up on the couch, snuggling in bed at night, tagging along for car rides, or simply following you around the house, Madge is happiest when she is loved and close to her humans.
She is crate trained, doing wonderfully with house training, and is already settling beautifully into home life. Madge is also spayed and social, with a sweet and gentle nature that makes her easy to adore.
This precious girl has every reason not to trust the world, yet she chooses affection anyway. Her past may have shaped her appearance, but it has never touched her heart. Madge’s spirit is soft, joyful, funny, and full of life. She will make you laugh with her sass, melt your heart with her devotion, and remind you daily that healing is possible.
