Meet Meryle Iris. She is a 45 lb, spayed, beautiful 2 year old Catahoula mix from West Virginia. She has tested positive for Lyme's disease and is currently taking antibiotics. Her old family consisted of other dogs, cats and kids. They got a new Christmas puppy and she was surrendered to the shelter.

Meryle Iris needs a family that will be patient and give her time and space to adjust. She is a little nervous, likes it better when you come down to her level and she will come to you when ready. In less than a week she has completely turned into a love bug with her foster mom. She is still decompressing and needs a little more time with her foster dad, but she is getting there.

Her house manners are practically perfect! She does not go on furniture, no accidents. She listens and wants to please, very treat motivated and she takes them nicely! She is good in her crate or gated in a room.  She roams the foster house, without any problems. She is sleeping on a blanket by the bed, and every night she comes to me and showers me with love, then lays down for the night. If that sounds like something you need, check out Meryle Iris!  Once she trusts the situation, she is so sweet and loving! And she will show you in spades! She likes to go on walks, but needs a little leash training. She seems to catch on quickly. She has short outbursts of energy in the yard and likes company. She is not a ball or stuffed animal kind of girl. She is a dainty lady that likes getting brushed, getting a massage and cuddling. She enjoys Nylabones and Kongs with peanut butter for some more strenuous activity.
