Monty is a 1-year-old, 40-pound hound with a heart as gentle as his soulful eyes. Despite a tough start in life, this handsome boy is slowly learning to trust and let his playful, silly side shine. When Monty forgets he's scared, he'll chase after toys or romp around outside with a curious, happy energy that's absolutely contagious.
In his foster home, Monty has proven himself to be a respectful roommate—he gets along wonderfully with cats, tolerates grumpy senior dogs, and loves to play with pups who are up for it (in fact, while it's not mandatory, he would probably love a home with another confident dog to help encourage him.) He's also polite and gentle around children, making him a potential best friend for a variety of families.
Though he's still hesitant around new people, Monty has already made incredible progress. He's gone from avoiding humans altogether to occasionally walking up on his own terms for gentle pets. With patience and love, his trust continues to grow every day.
Monty is crate-trained, sleeps soundly through the night, and hasn't had a single accident indoors. He's also a big fan of being outside and would love a yard to explore.
