Piper is now 5 months old and 35lbs. Things I have learned about her as her foster: 1) Piper is a sweetheart. She is so smart and sweet and is VERY treat motivated. Being treat motivated has had the rewards of learning "sit" and "follow" and "down". 2) Piper needs a fenced yard. She remains skittish at times, and will dart away, she will follow you inside and come in when called. But more importantly, she LOVES to be outside. She will sit outside and suntan all day long. She gets nervous on a leash and is learning to walk nicely with another dog, but on her own, she flattens like a pancake. 3) Piper needs another dog. While she is very independent, she uses others dogs as her way of knowing she is safe. So when one dog wants to cuddle, she will jump up to also receive cuddles. 4) Piper is not food aggressive or toy aggressive in anyway. The only time she becomes growly is when an unknown dog comes up to her because she feels threatened. She currently lives with 3 dogs and is totally dog friendly, but needs slow intros until she knows she isn't going to be hurt (my experience it has taken her about 3 days to trust other dogs). 5) Piper struggles with people approaching her or touching her. She prefers it to be on her terms. This makes her very low maintenance. She will come to you when she needs something and will accept cuddles on her terms, but once she is done, she will go on her own to chew her toy or suntan. 6) She is house and crate trained in her fosters home - never once having an accident.

If you are wanting a low maintenance, dog friendly dog- Piper may be your pup! Apply today.

Piper is a 4 month old, female lab mix who is now approximately 35lbs (expected to get to about 60lbs). She is such a sweet girl who has overcome so much in such a short time. She shows positive housetraining skills (no accidents in her fosters home at all!) and goes into her crate to sleep through the night. She will whine if she needs to go potty at night and has learned the dog door to go out on her own to go potty. She doesn't nip or jump. She only barks when something scares her and she is calling out to ask who it is. She does show some anxiety if someone approaches her too quickly. She will back up or run away, and because of this, she is being recommended for either a fenced yard or always being on a leash - because she will dart away when afraid. When she begins to trust you, she will come to you (especially for a treat!) but isn't a fan of others approaching her. She is not aggressive, but will growl at new dogs to seem tough, but she will submit and back away if she can. Once comfortable with her dog friends (took about 2 days in my house) she no longer will growl but instead, wants to LOVE them! She will cuddle and play, but back off if they show no interest. She can keep herself entertained for hours on end. She LOVES to be outside and will suntan all day if allowed. Piper is a great dog who will do great in a house with someone who will be patient as she learns to trust you and pay off by being your best fur-friend! Apply today for Piper!

Hello! My name is Piper. I am estimated at 3 -4 months old and a lab mix. I’m currently 24 pounds. I love to play, chase a ball, and lay in the sun. I currently sleep all night in my crate and I’m working on my house training. My foster mom said I’m doing a great job with it. I can tend to be a shy and timid. I would do best in a home with another dog to help me learn not to be so shy and scared.
