Pope is a 4 year old neutered standard-sized Poodle who is as regal looking as his name suggests with elegant, curly black fur all over. He came from North Carolina as a result of an owner surrender, and while we don't know much about the circumstances behind that decision, Wags was ready to help this handsome pup find his forever home. Pope's most stand out feature is his love of love - you may not meet a dog who loves to be cuddled more than Pope. His favorite people get hugs (he jumps up and puts his paws on your shoulders). He loves children and truly is a wonderful family companion. He loves to lay on beds and clean clothes, rolling around in them to soak up that classic fresh laundry scent. Pope is obsessed with the family cat to the point of being overwhelming, which is why he's not recommended for a family with cats present. He does well with people of all ages, and does ok with other dogs. He did initially grumble and growl if another dog got too close to his favorite person, but with time and closeness, he has moved beyond this behavior and is a model citizen. He is underweight and has some matted fur, but with care, love, and quality food, he'll truly blossom into the perfect pet. As a standard Poodle, he will need regular grooming sessions to look his best, so please ensure you are prepared for that expense and time commitment.
