Ruxton is an approximately 10-11 month old retriever mix who was found abandoned in a park in North Carolina. He has a goofy personality and is still trying to grow into his body and can be somewhat clumsy. He appears to be housebroken with a consistent schedule. While he does not enjoy going into his crate, after a couple of minutes he settles down and stays overnight and while fosters are working. He has been around lots of dogs and has done well with all. He was cat tested and appears non-reactive.
He loves playing inside or outside with his dog friends. He also enjoys just chewing bones, playing with toys and chasing a ball down. He is trying to learn leash walking and will need guidance. He is very food motivated and is learning basic commands with lots of treats.
He also enjoys just being by your side and getting lots of pets and love. Belly rubs are his favorite and will gladly roll over to get them.
Ruxton will make a great addition to any family and will keep you laughing.

Ruxton is a handsome eight month old shepherd mix who loves playing with his foster siblings. He’s in a foster home with big and little dogs and has managed to be a good playmate with everyone he's met. He’s people-friendly and happy to give and receive attention to any willing soul who comes along and offers a head rub. Ruxton is 46 lbs and still has a little growing to do. He likes a romp around the yard, a ball, and a handful of treats. He likes home-baked treats and would bring a recipe along if that would guarantee delivery of fresh-baked goodies. He would like to point out that home-baked is not a deal breaker as he would never object to store bought treats. Ruxton would like a person who is committed to him for the long haul. A fenced yard would be awesome. A dog friend or two would be amazing! He is vetted as age appropriate, heartworm negative and has been neutered.
